So i was browsing the Australian ebay and found this little Xs1 for sale.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-1...1193226?pt=AU_Motorcycles&hash=item43aaf8128a

It has got the same front end as my bike that i am building. except i notice it has those
coil springs on the outside of the fork. Mine did not come with this and im wondering what the story is. Do i need to run these for that front end to work properly.

The forks on mine are identical to that, minus the springs. It does have springs on the inside like standard forks. Ive never ridden the bike but they appear to work like normal forks when i apply pressure onto the handlebars.

Also has anyone had experience changing the seals in this specific fork? I had a little attempt the other day but didn't get very far.

The 1st model year, the 1970 XS1, had external springs. All later models had the springs on the inside. I'm assuming your forks are XS1B (1971) forks so would be correct with the internal springs.
