XS1 frame colour

Hi

I’m just about to get my XS1 frame repainted but I don’t really want to go down the powder coating route, were the original frames sprayed satin black?

I believe they were more on the gloss side. The factory didn't have very good paint on the frames so a 40 year old bike tends to look like satin black. If you have the facilities to paint that would be preferable for a correct restoration. I decided to powder coat. I have powder coated the last 6 frames I have worked on and all have turned out very nicely. Cost for someone to spray was twice the price of powder coat.
