So I picked up this nicely unmolested XS1B frame the other day.
I'm just trying to work out which parts will fit off the later bikes.
So far I've got as far as...............

1. The engine unit and carbs off the later bikes can be made to fit.

2. Possibly the rear wheel/brake off the '75 on roadsters.

Errrrrr.....that's about it so far, even the centre stand off the '75 on bikes is too wide, and I assume that the '75 swing arm is also too wide.
Anything useful that does actually fit without engineering work ?
It looks like I'm going to have to find almost an entire rolling chassis worth of used parts here

you need early engine mounts to fit the late motor in the 71 chassis @Rhy650 (or his dad?) did it.
shorter neck on early frames 70-73
y-know it'll be a heck of a lot easier to just find a later chassis. prolly cost less too.

Oh, I've got loads of those already!
I've always fancied an early bike, and this nice straight unbutchered frame came up for a bargain price.
Now the XS1 and XS1B were never sold in the UK, so any parts thereof have been imported, and therefore are mostly in the possesion of dealers/bike breakers with their extortionate prices.
However we did get the XS2 in 1972.
In fact we got it for three years in a row - '72, '73, and '74 - we never got any TX650's here, we went from XS2 straight to XS650B in 1975.
So there are some XS2 parts lying around which have been here for 50 years or so, and there is a SLIM chance of just finding stuff stashed away in a barn or garden shed.
I'm pretty confident that I can fabricate all the hardware to do the engine swap.
