XS650 Craigslist postings depository

Anyone think this is a good deal? I emailed a guy about dropping the price and he must of felt insulted because he let me have it..lol

It's a very nice bike and it might be worth the price but it is not 100% original as described in the craigslist ad. It is close to 100% restored. The king-queen seat and mirrors are definitely not original or even OEM. Some people are quite careless with their use of original...

That said, while you could easily find very nice XS650s for $500 a few years ago those deals are getting hard to come by. In the photos it looks like a nice bike. If I were in the market I'd want to go look at it and see if I fell in love. $1900 is high but not out of the question if the bike is in great shape and especially if you fall in love.

Buy yes, by all means, show him cash and see if he'll take less. As a boss once told me when I was learning to bid on salvage: you can always bid higher, you can never lower a bid and expect to make a buy. He'll get less offended as your prices get closer to his.

Hi/low switch is broken. Looks like it has gone over on the left side, replaces lever/bracket and doesn't have the original hole for the mirror, hence the new type of mirrors. Check for bent triple or fork.

Fuel stains on the right engine cover. All of the things he has done is refurbishing to a level of maintenance. Brake lines look to be original, so i question what has been done to the brakes. Rebuild or dismantle, free up and put back together?

Chrome guards/muffler and tank look polished but the motor, rear shocks, headers don't look nice.

Take any rose tinted glasses off before looking at this.

Well the bike is about 3 hours from me so Im gonna try and go check it out this weekend. I'm sure he will come off $1900 if I show up with cash.

Hey guys, motorcycle newb here. Am looking to get my first bike to putt around the mountains when I am at our cabin (just to the lake and back, stuff like that) I used to ride my grandparents old Yamaha a lot when I was younger so I thought I might as well get an old Yamaha as my first motorcycle! Anyways, I would eventually like to turn it into a street tracker type bike and found a couple ads and wanted your guy's opinion.
