I have for sale two xs650s. One a roller the other in peieces. The roller started out as a flat track project that ran out of time. It has a 750 kit and rephased crankshaft. Aftermarket cam. New valves and needs to be tuned. I also have a 1981 frame with title. a spare 1978 xs650 motor complete. I also have numerous spare parts to build another engine. I have side covers, seats, and the little things that are hard to find. I ran out of room to work on it and it all needs to go to a good home. contact me at 3096420490.

Has anyone seen the XS1 on ebay that is "original untouched" with 1650 miles on it.....the bid is up to 5000. Whoever is bidding on it obviously didn't notice that it has a different engine, wrong petcocks, tail light and I gave up looking after that.

I have mine up on central New Jersey craigslist. 1981 XS650 Special. Not sure if anyone who has been looking has seen it. I'd love to keep her but I've been putting way too much money into her and I'm not sure I'll have a lot of time to get it to the way I want. Let me know if you think I'm asking too little or if you are interested in buying it.

Here's the ad:

I have a 1981 Yamaha XS 650 for sale. Perfect bike for someone who needs a project and could turn this bike into a real nice machine with a little more time, money, and paint.

I bought it a few years ago as a project bike with hopes of turning it into a bobber/brat style motorcycle. It fires up, runs, and rides as well. Charging system needs replacement to be reliable (it does not charge the battery) Had hopes of a permanent magnetic alternator install for $319.

I have the title in my name and it has been registered and insured for the past few years. Numbers match on VIN and engine. 20,161 miles. I have lots of brand new parts purchased from MikesXS.com and other retailers in order to make this XS650 in tip top running shape. I just don't have the time and I don't want to keep putting money into it since I am going back to school. This XS650 comes with all the new parts...you can install them or sell them as you wish.

Here is a list of what has been completed (all installed parts have roughly 500 miles on them):
-New Bosch H4 glass headlight $30 (allows for modern bulb replacement or HID kit install)
-7/8" drag style black handlebars $35
-Stainless steel front brake line upper + lower
-New front brake master cylinder and lever
-Newer XS650 front brake rotor
-2 New black Gran Tourismo style grips
-2 New 54mm tapered oval pod filters ($40 like K&N)
-Right side engine cover Oil filter screen
-2 New head-pipe gaskets for exhaust
-New petcock-non-vacuum type
-New fuel line with purple anodized aluminum inline bronze fuel filter (cleanable)
-2 New Float bowl gaskets
- 2 New NGK LB01EP spark plug caps
-2 New NGK Iridium spark plugs BPR-7EIX
-2 New front brake pads
-2 New EBC rear brake shoes and brake springs -135.0 Main jets & 45.0 Pilot jets in each carb (for pod filters and free flow exhaust)
-New Izumi drive chain ES530Hx104
-4 New exhaust engine studs, lock washers, and chrome acorn nuts
-New rear brake rod spring, adjuster nut, and pin
-New Rear brake stop switch
-New Crankcase breather filter
-New vinyl solo seat (with springs-not installed)
-Used Harley Sportster mufflers

What NEW PARTS come with the motorcycle: (I have receipts and prices paid for everything)
-Athena Premium Overhaul Gasket set ($52) -side cover gaskets and oil filter gasket already installed
-Clutch pushrod bushing & oil seal (the clutch pushrod leaks oil when engine is to operating temp)
-Clutch lever black with plastic cover
-OEM type Oil filter strainer sump filter ($26.50) (for bottom of the engine)
-2 Dampened mirror adapters
-Alternator brush set
-Fork tube rubber plug top cap
-Fork tube cap o rings
-Bronze Swing arm bushing set ($54)
-Swing arm grease seal ($15.50)
-BS 34 Brass carb. fuel line T piece ($16.50)
-Original Ford Model A tail light-repainted silver modern bulbs installed and wired ($25)
-Chilton XS650 manual hard bound ($23)
-Full stainless steel engine bolt replacement kit for covers

Like I said it runs and rides but does need some work on the charging system, ignition system, as well as the clutch push rod oil seal, and the bronze suspension arm bushings for the rear to be fully reliable. I have priced out a solid state stator type charging system which costs $319. A new Pamco Ultimate High Output + New Advance Assembly should be installed which runs about $250-275. Kick start only, starter needs rebuild or new one installed, I like the kick start so I don't mind.

The stock tail section has been cut off but I still have it if you want to weld it back on. I still also have the front fender and some other stock parts you can have and sell. If you are turning this into a hard tail chopper or brat style bobber you will not need them but can make money off them!
The Yamaha XS650's are becoming very popular and there are a lot of things you can do with these bikes. Endless options for the motor from re-phasing it to turbo charging it, to using it in an ATV, or dirt bike. Very versatile motor!

For Sale $1200 or best offer
Will trade for running and rideable street legal dual sport/enduro with title
(Kawisaki KLR650 , Honda XR 650, Suzuki's DR-650, Yamaha XT)

Cash sale only.
Pick up ONLY no delivery. You will need a truck or trailer since charging system reliability is an issue.
No test rides without motorcycle license endorsement and full asking price of cash in my hand.
I don't want to sell it but it has to go.
