looking for a frame, motor, project in general. I am in canada, I am close to Toronto and the watertown, NY border. frame with ownership would be a plus, but not a deal breaker. looking to build a chopper. thanks all! cheers.
pm sentHi 88_pony
I am near Chatham, you sound like you are on the other side of Toronto.
If you want you can PM me, we may have already been in touch on Kijiji.
I checked FB marketplace this morning and there were 4 XS650 projects for sale in Central New York.
Ed, Click on your "Home" page at the top of your FB page, then on the left you'll see Marketplace. Click on that , then in the search bar up top write in "Yamaha XS650". scroll down farther and farther, and you will get increasingly distant ads, eventually those from CNY and PA. there is one in northern PA.I never shoulda swung at the first pitch. Have you got any links? They would be most appreciated. thanks.
Here is one of them in Red Creek:I never shoulda swung at the first pitch. Have you got any links? They would be most appreciated. thanks.

Well, Ken, the "going price" really depends on your bargaining skills, IMHO.Is that the going price for a more or less complete XS650
Well, Ken, the "going price" really depends on your bargaining skills, IMHO.
Case in point:
The '82 Heritage Special I bought last month was running, complete, unmolested, titled.
The seller was initially quite firm on his price of $1250.
After a week of evaluating the bike and working on him (haggling), I got him down to $700.
So, what was the going rate? $1250 or $700?

Just my humble opinion, Ken, but I think you should get this '78 up and running and put it on the road.Maybe I should get my butt to the DMV and get a clear title for the 1978
Well I could bring my 1982 and park it next to your 1982 the contrast would be a good one!Just my humble opinion, Ken, but I think you should get this '78 up and running and put it on the road.
Next year I could see you again at the Groton Old Home Days Vintage Bike Show on an Xs650.
Wouldn't that be a trip ?
