I'm just wondering what speedo and tacho combinations will work with these bikes.
Did Yamaha keep to standard drive ratios for its instruments ?
The tacho drive on the 650 engines remains the same from start to finish, so I assume that all 650 tachos are compatible, but what about similar instruments off other contempory Yamahas?
Like the TX500, or RD250B for example.
I know the red line is in the wrong place, but it's better than no tacho at all.
And as for Speedos, I've been told that internally XS1 and XS2 units are identical, and have the same gearing ratios.
So does that apply to all XS speedos ?
The late XS range used basically the same speedo from the XS250 to the XS11 Special, although some of the smaller bikes had 18" front wheels (that wouldn't concern me too much).
Will they all work on the 650 OK.
I saw a XS1B for sale fitted with what seemed to be clocks off a YR5, I wondered if they would function correctly ?

Being that it's a 4 stroke twin, I think the TX/XS500 tach would work. I'm not so sure about any 2 stroke or 3 and 4 cylinder 4 stroke ones though. They may have different ratios.
