That Z650RS definitely looks way better than its direct competition, the Yamaha XSR700. Although the Yam may have a more pleasing exhaust sound. If I was in the market for a middleweight "modern japanese retro" , a Kawasaki 650 or 900 would be at the top of my list. But I am not....
Triumph 900/1200 twins look way better, Ducati 800/1100 Scramblers have plenty of performance and are lightweight AND aircooled. The new Moto Guzzi V7 850 looks fantastic IMHO. And being sensible/ practical about a new 2 up sports touring bike, would lead to a BMW F900XR anyway.

I have demo ridden both XSR700 and 900..they are a hoot to ride..The 700 can be thrashed more without getting into trouble..The XSR900 has you backing off the agression because it can be more than you can handle...What I cant accept is the expense of a new bike...even that used Z900rs that Bob posted.... thats still much more than i want to pay..
