Sorry another Capasitor question

I've read through all the threads about going battery less and capasitor's and my head is now swimming

My simple question is

I have a standard points set up on my XS 650 can I just swap the battery for a sparks capasitor.

Or do I need a pma

The battery has to stay with the stock charging system. If you switch to a PMA you can use a capacitor.
