Valve interchange

It appears that all (70-84) xs 650's shared the same valves. Just wanted to confirm that early valves will fit in a later motor.

So it appears they'll fit, just need old style keepers with them? Is that what we're saying here?
 
Do I read into this if a guy were to be doing say an overhaul, hop up of an early engine, late style valves and keepers is a very good idea?

I would say so. Don't like having sharp corners in highly-stressed parts. This bulletin may have come as a result of cost-cutting, or from problems in the field, or from the racing community. I've always known the curved-notch keepers to be the better design, but would be great if some race-engine builders would chime-in here...
