Yep, smart move. Good job. Will you sell a stator and reg?

John

Sure thing, just let me know what you want and I'll be glad to send an Invoice via paypal... That stator isn't cheap though, but still cheaper than a new rotor for the stock charging system

That is awesome, I gues it can't be done any cheaper though, which is one of the selling points of the setup IMO.

Regarding the overseas customers, Heiden tuning sells a kit for 250 euro, so I guess it will be tough to compete, freight and duties taken in consideration.

Any output specs of the stator?

If you source all the parts used yourself, it can be a TON cheaper. But I've had requests for complete kits, mostly from Sweden, the UK, and such... A few here in the states as well just didn't feel like spending all the time hunting down parts on CL or Ebay. Thats why I also sell just the adapter and regulator if you want to source your own parts.

Yeah looks like an excellent set up and cheap to boot. it won't work with a TCI? Or can it be done? Could the RH cover be skinnied up? This looks thinner than the stock set up?

TCI is a no go, as you lose the crank trigger and pickup. Its not much thinnner than the stock setup, and shaving down the side cover might be possible. If you did such, you'd need to shorten the clutch rod as well. I'll look into it...

I would be thinking along the line of thinning just the front section where the Yomama plate bolts on.

I admit I'm too lazy to put a kit together myself so I went ahead and ordered one.
My 82 has the TCI system so now I need to wait for the PAMCO Ignition system to get back into stock at MikesXS.
I went ahead and ordered a new wire harness from MikesXS last month so I'll be installing that too.
With new wiring, new PAMCO ignition, and new charging system, I should have a reliable (electrically) bike to last many more years.:bike:

Jim, thanks for your order, it should go out in the next few days. My wife really appreciates your business :D But seriously, thanks for the business, and let me know if I can do anything for you...

Great..I will be getting one for mine when ready..thank-you Mr Punkskalar.

I was considering sourcing all the bits through ebay etc but once you pay freight on all individual items to Australia, the freight works out to be very xpensive.

Still way cheaper than the sparx unit too..

P.S. You just need to do a big front disc upgrade kit for 76 models now, I'd buy that also...

Cheers.

I have been busy today with alternators. I put a permanent magnet alternator together using Hugh's basic $27 kit , a $30 banshee plate , a $40 banshee flywheel, and a $40 Yamaha FZR400 stator. Total cost $137 dollars. I also have a rectifier-regulator that I purchased from Hugh. Cost is still under $200. Thanks Hugh and MR. Riggs for all of the R&D.
I also installed a Sparx system on my 78 standard today and mounted the rectifier-regulator on the front of the plastic portion of the rear fender. I made some 3/8 aluminum spacers with 1/4 inch rubber backing glued to the spacers. This will allow air flow to the unit.
I still have a Mr. Riggs casting to try next. I will buy a new stator and Flywheel for this project. Great improvements for our bikes. Thanks Tony c
