Want a 860cc XS??

Done a bunch of street Wiseco 750 and some from MIKES here in the US but never took one to the track to see what times it would pull. 11.4 is a good time for a two cylinder that matches up very close to a stock GS1100 which i have run on the track here. I would like to see a picture of one if anyone has it to see if it is stretched and lowered and in a stock frame or a Drag Frame big difference.

It's in a stock frame, with standard tank, still with the original footrests, the swing arm is standard length, it is pretty low though, the forks sit quite a long way through he yokes, standard spoked wheels, no turbo, no nitrous, 1 3/4 exhausts with reverse cone megaphones, looks like the rider is pretty light, and the frame has been delugged with no battery box, really can't work out how he is that quick, his terminal speed is often 114 mph

From what I hear the 1000cc are generally stroked 840cc motors.

David over here in OZ isn't doing his 840cc kits anymore. He was producing his own pistons to fit the 447 motor which had the correct pin height making 840cc available for the 447 motors. The other 840cc kits were to suit the 533 motors. Halco in England sold these 840 kits for competition and they used modified Suzuki SP370 pistons.

I'm thinking it be way too expensive to really be worth it for a daily rider.

Thanks for the Dyno info and the picture. That bike looks stock and i am surprised that the exhaust is so plain.I have Drag Raced for over 30 years and ran everything from stock to Top Fuel over the years but i just love to build bracket bikes that just run the same time over and over and take out the big dollar bikes. Years ago we won a $1000.00 payout on a Honda QA 50 and it was funny as hell seeing all the big bikes RED LIGHT or Go Under the dial in because the QA50 was almost at the end before the other bike started. But we did cheat a little because we ran the bike with no gaskets and bumped up the compression some so it was a little bit quicker than a stock QA50. People were pissed and some guys dropped out without running because they didn't want to loose to a QA50. I was thinking of building a XS650 in one of my stretched Chopper Drop Seat Frames and putting on a small Turbo on it and just go have some fun and now that i seen the picture of this bike i think mid 10's may be there. Thanks Guys you helped out a lot. Here are a couple pictures of me racing in the 90's.

Isuzu Trooper pistons (87mm) have the right pin height for 447 rods (close enough anyway). You can pick up a new set of four, with rings, for $50. I haven't figured out where to scavenge used cylinder sleeves but even with new sleeves you could piece together an 880 for a few hundred bucks.

If only it were that easy.... I'm not saying that what you speak isn't the truth, but I have a feeling that the trooper pistons aren't going to just swap in with new sleeves and a bored case. Aren't troopers 4 valve per cylinder?

Look what you have done........ Now I'm going to have to do some research...:bike:

Have you looked at these guys?

Mr. Riggs-

I'm willing to spend the money and do the research work if you want to get together on a project like this. I'll shoot you a PM later today and maybe we can work something out.

I never said it would be easy. It will take more work than just bolting them in but that won't add much, if any, to the cost if you are doing the work yourself.

These are the pistons I was referring to.

There are no pics in that auction but they look like this. I just looked again and that listing is for a single piston, but you can find complete sets for about the same price. Just be sure it's a standard bore and not an oversize.

They are true flat-tops so you would need to cut valve reliefs, and the pin holes are 22mm so you need to bush them to 20mm. Other than a custom made piston ($$$), that is as close to "drop-in" as you're going to find.

It sounds like it is expensive and potentially problematic.

I may give it a miss.

Anything over 82MM is very problematic with the XS,you think the XS is a vibrator now, wait till slap on those heavy tractor slugs, heat dissipation issues, oil leakage, weakening of the lower case halfs. If you're needing a bigger displacement fix,get a modern Duke or Suzuki Twin IMO.

What Turbo are you using and how much juice. Good old bottled juice does it all the time.
Got any pictures of your drag bike? Pistons cut down or you running 9.5 to 1 .TEN SECOND runs on a xs is very good.

The turbo came off a 86 Ford Probe gt. I'm running about 25-30 hp shot. other than a welded crank and a homemade 3-speed trans the engine is stock.
there are pictures here in the Garage, but I don't know how to link to those threads.

I bought a chopped up xs2 and got a spare engine with it.
Turned out to be a 87mm 880cc. Pistons are stamped Venolia.

Rebuilding it now.
Sofar I've cleaned the inside of the cases,
replaced the tranny with '81 + overdrive 5th.
Plugged the pushrod hole and going to use pull clutch.

Anxious to see how it holds together once it's done.

Welded crank a must and 3 speed trans HUH! Cut the dogs on the trans or stock. What does it run without the juice? JUST TURBO. NOT STREET ABLE JUST TRACK CORRECT.
I am concerned about TRANS and clutch basket with high horsepower out of a XS 650. Maybe nothing to worry about but i have seen CB 450 motor explode the basket. I use to own a factory Honda 305 road racer that we bought from overseas from Honda and that had a weird 6 speed trans in it and i was always thinking that that would come apart with that little basket and never did.

I'm not sure if people know this but Venolia will make you whatever size piston you want for your XS. They kicker is that they are 300 bucks...... each.

try not to run without n2o. gearing is set up for n2o. the dogs are cut in trans. like the rest of engine & bike have to keep an eye on the trans.
