Do you like high pipes?

This is Kenny Roberts TT bike he ran at the the Peoria Ill TT in the mid 70's. Look closely how the head pipes curve up over the cases and come out behind his legs. Pretty cool!

I remember that pic and another from the Houston Astrodome. I can't find KR, but here's Scott Parker on a HD XR750 airing it out. It took BIG. BRASS. BALLS. to go big on one of these heavy beasts with only, what, 4" of suspension travel?

Ya I love the look of exhausts that exit in that general area but I don't want hot pipes near my legs...

Do you guys ride in skirts! You know you should cover those legs for safty sake Kidding aside with a good pipe design you feel no heat at all. Have either of you guys had hi-pipes? If so post a picture so we can see the design that made your legs hot. There are plenty of bikes that come stock with hi-pipes and you know how manufactures are Tuck the pipes in and no problem

Well gordon I know that you make great systems. No I've never had hi-pipes. i can't find the thead right now where this guy put on a set hi pipes and he said they melted his boot. well that was good enough for me to not want a set

I have had a set of Gordon's high pipes with stainless megs since july. I love them and I have had no problems with heat thru the south Ga summer, and I don't have them heat wrapped or any thing. If they are routed properly you are good to go! David

Hi Ed, I know the thread you're talking about, it was not my exhaust that burned the boot but one from another vender on this site(likable guy on this site). The vid you posted is not the guy that burned his boot, it was someone else. The other venders pipes stick out more then mine in the front so with forward controls it's real close. Not to say mine aren't close too with forward controls, they are. I'm sure with some forward controls out there mine would melt a boot too with prolonged contact. Ah, custom bikes, ain't they fun

I've got high pipes on mine that we made and I love them.

Look badass, sound great, and truthfully I don't much notice the heat if I'm wearing my boots. They certainly don't get hot enough to damage my jeans.

Hi Ed, don't get me wrong, with forward controls the left foot can get close to the pipe depending on the controls used. I like using hi-pipes with mid controls myself, plenty of room with no heat issues what so ever And yes Georgia can get a little hot and sticky! When I was there I lost 10lbs in water weight

You can get those at Coneengineering.com. I sell them with purchase of my exhaust systems only because after shipping to me I just break even.

Just mounted a set of Omars mile pipes and was loking at how cool and easy it might be to get Robert to modify the right pipes so it goes on the left like the Roberts yamahas

There is a guy online that used a set of Honda 350 Scrambler pipes. It took a bit of torch work to in the back but they looked OK. They mount on the left too.
