    MC Brake Hone XS650B

The smallest brake cylinder hone available at all the auto places in my neighborhood is 11/16". Will this work on an OEM MC on a XS650B? When I measure the cylinder bore it looks close to 1/2"to me.

    Front Brake Help Please!

I'm very interested in the idea of a single steel brake line. My rubber lines are definately 10+ years old and in questionable condition. There is an overwhelming amount of general brake information in the tech section of this forum but I didn't see any specific info on how long it should be or...

    Front Brake Help Please!

Thanks guys. The info helps a ton. Judging wear is tough without much experience. If I followed my ol' Clymer manual, I'd practically have to replace the whole bike every four years or 2,000mi. I bought new tires 10 years ago and have only put on a couple hundred miles since then so they look...

    XS650B Front Brake

I wasn't getting any bites on this thread so I re-posted here

    Front Brake Help Please!

I am trying to get a XS650B with 16,000mi up and running that has not been driven (regularly) for about 20 years. I finally got the thing tuned enough to start driving it around the neighborhood and noticed that the front brake was binding. Upon closer inspection, there was some sludge build-up...

    XS650B Front Brake

I am trying to get a XS650B with 16,000mi up and running that has not been driven (regularly) for about 20 years. I am on a shoe string budget but know to slow down for a brake job. I finally got the thing tuned enough to start driving it around the neighborhood and noticed that the front brake...

    1975 xs650b fuel/air mix screw setting?

If my memory serves me correct, when I backed out from 3/4 to 1 turn the backfiring worsened on the decel. I have no idea why and will double check so that I am not confusing my directions. Having said that, moving in to 1/2 total turn out on each side sounded better. As for the butterfly...

    1975 xs650b fuel/air mix screw setting?

Alright, I just spent a couple hours pulling the carbs to take another look and am only now seeing the last couple posts on the clear tube method so I have not yet run the test. Let me restate where I'm at: I have original/oem parts throughout (127.5 main, 4n8 needle, 45 pilot and am using the...

10-4 5twins. I cleaned the old ones and use the new one as fancy tooth pics for guests.

    1975 xs650b fuel/air mix screw setting?

Thanks again. Despite this hiccup, the bike is still running the best it ever has for me. Before I rip into it again I wanted to pick your brain a bit more. When I was previously adjusting things, I loosened the throttle cables - so, I don’t think that was contributing to my problem. I will...

    1975 xs650b fuel/air mix screw setting?

XSLeo, I think I may be doing something wrong on your dead cylinder method and would greatly appreciate some more input. I do have stock carbs/jets and ignition. Probably getting a bit ahead of myself, when I start with the factory 3/4 mix screw setting and pull the opposite plug, the left side...

    Carb Dip On Plastic

As a follow up to this thread, the Pine-Sol worked well. I recently fired it up and the bike seems to be working so far. I enjoyed the fact that harsh chemicals were avoided rubber gloves weren't required. Chem dip probably would have worked as well, but Pine-Sol is only 1/3 the costs. Good luck...
