    OEM tool kit question

It's the metric one, SKJAS. The spark plug tool isn't the right size but that's easy to swap out. Quality stuff, I have a few of them on various bikes.

    OEM tool kit question

I ordered it, I can't imagine the tool box needs an "O-ring gasket" for any other reason. Seems to make the foam block redundant.

    OEM tool kit question

Also a good theory. Search for part number of #24 turns up a number of results saying "side cover tool" and this: http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=221576048192&alt=web

    OEM tool kit question

My '77 didn't come with a tool kit. I assume it would go in the pocket behind the battery on the left side. Was there a retention strap for the tool kit? I have two little hooks near that cubby but I can't tell if they secure a strap or if they were for wire management. I just got a...

Adding fluid after brake line change

Definitely, I agree. I'd like to keep these stock components, so I ordered a rebuild kit. Got the mc disassembled, just waiting on the kit.

I'm into a m/c rebuild at this point. It's all apart and is cruddy.

"Nissin 14" is what the MC has stamped

Adding fluid after brake line change

Thanks XSLeo. I tried my finger on the hole but the piston still doesn't return much, not all the way. At this point I have the line completely off and fluid in the reservoir and nothing is coming out at all, even when the brake is pumped. So one or both holes must be clogged I guess, and the...

Adding fluid after brake line change

I think there's a larger problem with the master cylinder, the piston definitely isn't returning with the lever. I took off the banjo bolt and put an awl through there and can push the piston back manually. Maybe the master cylinder needs rebuilt?

Adding fluid after brake line change

I recently picked up a '77 XS650 with the factory dual-disk option, and I just replaced the brake lines with braided stainless ones. Cleaned out the fittings and reservoir while everything was apart (didn't seem too bad actually), re-assembled and everything fits nicely. I added fluid to the...
