thanks for the responses, turned out it was a vacuum leak, i took the carbs off and cleaned the mating surface of the intake manifolds and replaced the vacuum hose that goes to the petcock, i also noticed my vacuum port cap was showing cracks in it, replaced it and it was good to go.

so i rode over to a friends house and as soon as i get there i notice fuel dripping out of the back of my carb, i figure no problem its done it before and its an easy fix, i take them off and tweak with the floats and needle, put it back on and it stopped leaking. when i go and kick the bike...

can the rotor go bad? i heard that you test it with an ohm meeter between the 2 circles and that it shouldn't go over 5 ohms.

i was goint go get the pamco ignition system sets but mikesxs is sold out. so i was going to buy the piece that replaces the points and the others as well. i'm wondering if its still possible to run 2 seperate ignition coils or if i need to upgrade to the green monster?

how reliable are the pamco ignitions? are they easy to install? i'm rebuilding a 79 xs650 special. i picked it up at a salvage yard, the contacts were taken off and the auto advance is rusted to hell. i was going to keep it as stock as possible but i'm willing to sacrifice stock parts...
