    Oil Change and Sump Filter

What about the bolts on the sump cover? Factory are some sort of breakaway - I cannot find replacements. Are standard bolts OK?

Mikes XS...got their goove back on..

Never really had any problems with Mikes. I kind of put him through the mill on my last order - but they came through. YOu just have to know that your parts are about a week away. So I always order extra of stuff I may need in the future.

    Oil Sump Bolts -Breakaway

Ok on the oil sump cover (under the engine) the bolts are "breakaway" style - I am not sure why - but new ones are hard to find. Any reason I can't just use normal metric bolts? I think they are 6mm torqued to 7 ft pounds. (10mm head). Also - has anyone else found the breakaway style the...

    Oil Change and Sump Filter

Ok - I replaced the sump filter on my XS650 '81 2 years ago with the new style from Mikes that doesn't blow out. Now when I do oil changes - How often should I remove and inspect that sump filter? I do the regular on the side oil filter/screen on each oil change BTW - I am using the XS...

    Clutch: hard to pull?

When the cover is off - you are pulling against "air" with the cover...

    Clutch: hard to pull?

It may be me just gettting older but.... My 81 Special (16K) - when I go for long rides it seems the clutch gets harder to pull in. I have a new cable that is well lubed. When cable is properly adjusted - I don't seem to have trouble finding neutral - could it be the Clutch Push Screw...

    Louder Horn on xs650

Wrong on the 650 design - I Had that back in the 80's - I have seen what others have ripped off of me - I suggest you get your facts straight before you spout off accusations. My design has gone through "progressions" but it started with a doodle I did in college when I bought my 81 new from...
