    '80 project

Been a long time getting to this point.......didn't want to proceed if I couldn't get the stance right. Backbone lengthened an inch, rake increased a bit, hard tail widened and stretched. Wheelbase is 65". Still have to connect the front legs to the head tube. Harley knock-off 84-99 40-spoke...

    "Mirror-wound" hairpin seat springs

I've noticed that most of the hairpin seat springs for sale on the web are wound in the same direction, a small thing maybe, but two of them under a seat look a little lopsided to me. Saw an old post here that mentioned "mirror-wound" hairpins which I assume means that a matched pair are wound...

    HD trees

Considering a Sportster front end on my xs and seem to remember reading here that the stem on '04-up Sportster trees is slightly longer than earlier models and that no stem swap is necessary to fit an xs neck. True? A link to that thread would be helpful. Searching produced nothing.

    DNA rocker specs

Anyone with a DNA springer: I need measurements (center-to-center) between the three holes in the rocker. Hard to find one out here in the sticks to measure for myself. Thanks for any help.

    What's with Ardcore Choppers?

My 2 cents concerning Ardcore: Ordered a hard tail last July and was told it would take five weeks. No show. Emailed a couple of times to ask about it, was told "soon". Emailed again at eight weeks, was told my order must have been misplaced. Finally got the tail ten weeks after I ordered it...

    DNA leafer

The best deal I've run across was a four-year-old ad for a new Kiwi leafer that the seller decided not to use......$600. Those things currently run around $2K. It was beautiful....not bulky-looking like some models. Cost is the reason the DNA conversion caught my eye: $450 for the springer, a...

    DNA leafer

Assume you would've had him machine everything....yokes, rockers, pivot lugs, etc. .....and assembly and welding would be up to you. Did he give you an estimate on the machine work?

    DNA leafer

Is this one of them? Uses a trailer leaf spring cut in half: http://www.mantaraygraphics.com/leaf.html

    DNA leafer

DNA springers seem to be a popular topic on this forum.....thought the conversion of one to a leaf spring front end was an interesting twist, especially given the price of new leafers or old ones in good condition. Just another option. So excuse the 'Harley' photo.........

    DNA leafer

This is interesting: A leafer front end made from a DNA springer. Farmer from ND had some ideas for a bike; bike shop told him "you can't do that"; he did it anyway. Photo was taken at the Donnie Smith bike show in St. Paul. Most leaf spring front ends attach the wheel axle at the rear of...

    Front bearings: Metric OD/Standard ID?

Snooped around a bit here and on bearing manufacturers' websites for any info on this....no luck, so I'll just ask to save time: Are there bearings available that would allow a 3/4" axle to be used with a metric wheel hub? Suppose bushings are a possibility also. Thanks for any help.

    What tank is this?

Any photos of your build? I'd like to see how much room that tank takes up on the backbone. Thanks.

    Sorry.......here's the photo:

    What tank is this?

Just found this..........looks pretty close, maybe the filler is a little farther back than the one on the bike. I love that tank.

    What tank is this?

Saw this on another site. The frame set-up is the same as mine. Not crazy about the color scheme, but the tank is what caught my eye. Just the right length, width, and profile. Anyone know what it is? Is it stock from some other bike? Modified? I haven't seen anything like it available online...
