Front brake switch blowing the main fuse.

I found an old RLU and cut the plug off of it and then jumpered the Blue wire with Black stripe to the Blue wire with the Yellow stripe. and it did eliminate the need for the RLU Thank you. Now if no more gremlins appear perhaps I can do some riding. Thanks gusy for your help.

Front brake switch blowing the main fuse.

Retired Gentlemen, I put it back up and rode for about 10 -15 minutes It appears to be doing fine But as 5 twins suggests I will look into the The RLU it maybe time for it to go. Not Sure it is 100% cured but at least she is a live once again. Thanks for all your help I was stuck to say the least.

Front brake switch blowing the main fuse.

Thanx I will look into that RLU it appears if I take out the RLU there would be enough room for a 5 spot blade type fuse panel. would you suggest that as an option even though I used a new Radio Shack panel and rewired it I just don't trust the glass type fuses. Thank you for any help. A lot of...

Front brake switch blowing the main fuse.

"Do you mean it blows the 20 amp main fuse? It should blow the 10 amp signals fuse first. With electrical problems, its best to divide the problem area into 2 pieces. Disconnect one of the front signal leds, then test again, to see if the short circuit clears or continues." Yes that is...

Front brake switch blowing the main fuse.

I checked all of the wiring topics and could not find one like this. My bike is a 1980 xs 650 special. I added some hard shell bags using Krauser K mounts up ala 5 twins, I removed the turn signals and added L.E.D. turn signals/ running lights. Used a Napa 3.99 constant flasher well, that is...

    LED

I had been searching for a flasher that would work. Right now, I am only using L. E. D. s in back and regular turn signals in front none of the electronic flashers I tried worked. As I was scouring the web I saw something that said. try the 552 fix it is a variable load 2 prong flasher from...

Are vm28s too small for xs650?

I installed the performance upgrades to my 80 carbs that Mike's suggested plus new gaskets and needle valves. The difference was night and day on my bike. My tank is a 2.5 gallon and it gets about 90 miles or better with a ton of power. A good dip in carb cleaner like Berryman's at walmart...

    Installing a small Batwing Fairing on a 1980 XS650

When it comes to the mounts free is the right price. Mom used to say," if you keep things for 7 years, it will save you time, money, and grief when you need it again." But, who has that much storage?

It is possible you are correct. Airtech makes a mount that goes between the stem and headlight with a slider. I have tried to minimize the shock with the rubber mountings so far they are holding up well. But, it is subject to change with out notice, the 1 constant of the xs. thanx for your...
