    How low can you go?

Being my first chopper build and being I was in too much of a hurry to get started, I didn't wait to figure out everything that I should have before having the work done. I still don't know the answer to some of the items you brought up but I did tell him that I would be running stock wheels...

    How low can you go?

Alright, I think I can breath a bit easier. My frame is more than 3 inches off the ground, but is probably slightly less than 3.5. I guess I'm going to find out. Thanks for the input!

    How low can you go?

I know this is a highly subjective question, but I just got my frame back from a fabricator that put a rigid rear end on my frame and am concerned about the ground clearance. I have owned low riding bikes before, but what would you consider to be a minimum distance between a level frame and the...

Is this wheel from an XS650?

What would I be looking for on the rim (I'm a bit of a beginner)? I would have to contact the seller and ask them for the information. There are 2 additional pictures from the seller below and it appears to me that that the rim will need to be replaced. The biggest issue for me is going to be...

Is this wheel from an XS650?

So, does the wheel below look like what I need?

Is this wheel from an XS650?

Great...that means that the matching front mag is probably from the same bike. I have a 1978 spoke rear wheel, so I guess I'm in the market for a spoke front wheel. There are always surprises when taking on someone elses project.

Is this wheel from an XS650?

Finally starting my chopper build and noticed something unusual about the mag wheel...it only has 4 bolts holding the gear in place. Don't XS650's use 6 bolts? Other than that, it looks like a 650 mag.

Basket case 75 motor with starter motor troubles

The spark plugs do not appear to be wet so I guess I need to go over the carbs more thoroughly and read the forum comments to see if I forgot something.

Basket case 75 motor with starter motor troubles

The short story is that I have an engine in a basket case 75 that hasn't been run for at least 5 years. I was unsuccessful kick starting life into the bike with freshly cleaned carbs, points set roughly, and home made wiring (nothing could go wrong here, right). After 2 hours of kicking and...

    75 Carb linkage

I think I've found what's left of my throttle. If I'm not mistaken, I will need the dual pull throttle sleeve and a throttle cable retainer (appears to hold the cables to the bar switch assembly). Off to MikesXS I go.

    75 Carb linkage

Thanks for the info. Now, if I could only find the thottle....

    75 Carb linkage

OK. Then there has to be either 2 cables coming from the throttle or a piece of hardware that allows a single throttle cable to split to the two carbs.

    75 Carb linkage

I'm attempting to install the freshly cleaned carbs onto my basket case bike and discovered that the after-market manual that I have doesn't show the 75 carb linkage (apparently only later bikes mattered). Unlike later years of the XS650, the carbs dont have a mechanical linkage to keep them in...

    Which relay is this?

Thanks again XSLeo. I'll check it out first chance I get.

    Which relay is this?

Thanks retiredgentleman. Ultimately, that is what I'm going to do, being that almost nothing about this build is going to be stock anyway. At least today I know that the coils and condenser are capable of generating a spark. The points are sticking and need to be replaced, but that's no...
