do i have it backwards? thought screwing them out would fatten it up.
forgot, bike is a 78 and the stock setting is 2 1/4 out. so i only went half a turn out more
it also picks up more acceleration around 2,700 rpms with the same amount of throttle. as you give it throttle and the rpms come up, it pulls a little harder like it was given a little more throttle. not sure if that has to do with it
so i took the baffles out of my exhaust and in turn the bike was running a little lean. so i put 137.5 jets in and back the mixture screw out to 2 3/4 to smooth the idle and get rid of the popping on decel.
well the left cylinder is barely hitting at idle. the right side is loud and burning...
so i couldn't find any info on how to do this, so i tackled it myself. i'm very pleased with the results, even though i didn't remove as much as i originally intended. the bike sounds great, nice deep throaty sound and still has good bottom end. this is only one way to do it, so keep an open...
good call on the chain as well. found about 5 rusty links. so i gotta wait till tomorrow to get a new one.
and i think the carb is a permanent fix. the float was up when i pulled the tank. sat for a while, had the throttle pulled a few times while changing bars and stuff. when the fuel...
even easier, the fuse blew on top of the battery. maybe from when i was welding on the frame.
new now it's runnin good. took it for a cruise and the chain was real loose, but it would touch the frame every few feet. so i tightened it back up to a goood tension, and now it will bind up at...
easy fix, drained the carbs from the bottom and no more leaking. now i gotta figure out why i don't have spark. i removed the turn signals and that's it. now no spark, back to searching....
after a lot of searching, i'm finding that the floats may be stuck, or the needle o ring is bad? if i'm on track, please point me in the right direction
thanks
so i had my tank off and was swapping to a sortster tank. i wanted to hear the bike run and stuff so i put the stocker back on. i had plugged the vacum ports that were operating the stock petcocks. when i put the petcock to pri to flow some fuel, it then starts coming out of the opening of the...
i picked up a 78 xs650 and thanks to this forum have already done a lot of things to it. but i'm not gonna build my own exhaust until i complete the hardtail this winter. but i lowered the bike, sportster tank, and some drag bars to dress it up a bit. now i would like it to be a little louder...
