i picked up a 78 xs650 and thanks to this forum have already done a lot of things to it. but i'm not gonna build my own exhaust until i complete the hardtail this winter. but i lowered the bike, sportster tank, and some drag bars to dress it up a bit. now i would like it to be a little louder, but i'm not looking to cut the stock exhaust in half.

so i can't find anything about using a hole saw in the end of the exhaust and pulling the baffles out. has anyone done or tried this?

thanks,
mike

thanks, i wanna try it, but don't have the materials yet to build a new exhaust if it goes to hell. we'll see i guess

You can knock the baffel plates out of the mufflers. I used a 3/4 inch pipe slid into the muffler and a solid whack knocked it loose. Starting the bike blew them out. The bike is louder, runs better. They are now straight through glass packs.
