    Bitty Budget Young Hardtail Tracker

I just love looking at these ambitious projects you youngsters tackle. I keep putting off tearing my carbs apart to clean them cause I'm old and lazy. It's extra hard there in AZ too, I know how hot it can get inside the garage! I was in Gilbert for a while but I'm back in Western NY now...

Ever get the itch for a "modern" bike?

I've got a 2007 SV650 naked version. I think of it as an homage to the early cafe racers. It's a 650 twin, needs to have it's suspension upgraded (I have done that) has a good support forum and they are just downright fun to ride! I would suggest that you get one in the standard blue color...

Will these rebuild kits work on my stock 78 special?

Thanks 5twins, good info to know. I'll certainly need those fuel lines. Inside of my tank is pristine, so I'll forgo the in line fuel filters at this time.

Will these rebuild kits work on my stock 78 special?

Thanks Leo, hopefully just need new bowl gaskets and the drain plugs. I'll give everything inside a good cleaning with that Valvoline throttle body cleaner I got. Also new fuel line to replace the 34 year old rubber lines. Soon as I pull the gas tank they will break in half, they are so brittle!

Will these rebuild kits work on my stock 78 special?

Woo Hoo, there's hope for this old scooter (and me) yet! I'll have an order for Mike's soon enough, I'm sure. Thanks for your input! Ok, time to check the tech section on carb cleaning/rebuild!

Will these rebuild kits work on my stock 78 special?

Thanks Leo and xjw. They are still on the bike, I blasted all the brown goop off them with some throttle body cleaner and they seem to be in good shape. Looks like some brass bolts on the bottom of the bowls, heads rounded off and chewed up. I'm sure these are important and impossible to...
