i had similar problem and i had a ton diaphramn but also like gggGary said i also synched mine when i changed the diaphrams and got rid of the cold exhaust but im still running lean on that cylinder according to my plugs but it runs much better than before
i have a 1981 that i purchased without a front brake...i really hate riding it without it, so i need something...i DO NOT want to piece something together and deal with 20 people and different shipping cost what i am hoping for is for somebody to contact me with a COMPLETE setup i can bolt on to...

no pamco....it is an 81 by the way yes with pod filters and open exhaust also my friend did the hieden carb kit and new diaphrams for me..i was thinking it could be a valve too but idk...im gonna have another friend look at my carbs and he has a manometer which im not familiar with.....but what...
i ahve been working the bugs out of my bike for months now but still when i shut off the bike when hot it makes a weird suction noise idk wtf it is...i had many problems with it thinking major stuff but it was mainly vacuum leaks and i got my power back but it still backfires on deceleration but...
im gonna pass on the pink but i appreciate the reply....i have 2 tensioners 1 of which is unused i might just try and sell it on here with all the hardware minus the wheel....let whoever gets it pick what they want
ok i am a retard duh ya the T i didnt realize untill i put bike back together but anyway after doing diaphrams and a good cleaning and i ended up going with the heiden kit and my friend did it, that my bike is still a dog...he thinks its an electrical problem...possibly coil or tci box so were...
i just read this thread and got alot of good info guys thanks...i just finished my build, bought it in fall and it ran like shitty at full throttle...pulled it in my house this winter and did a full carb rebuild and went with the heinken performance kit from mikes, oh and also changed...
im guessing the T is the least of my problems probly right? lol idk i just want my bike to runn good and i appreciate all the feedback im new to the xs world but not new to bikes....
another thing i forgot to mention is that the "T" on my carbs was not connected to anything....there is a hose coming from the engine on top by the uppermost motor mount but it ran past my T and it seems to big to fit the T so idk whats going on in that department too
ya im gonna have my buddy clean the shit out of them and test the diaphrams like you said but he said all along he thought they were my problem just from my description so im gonna order a rebuild kit tonight and possibly the heiden tuning kit also if and go from there...i hope it comes soon so...
