I am selling my 1981 Yamaha XS650 with 13,500 miles. I bought this bike this past spring with plans to build my second custom XS650 but my plans have changed. I put about 20-30 miles on it before it was parked in my garage for the summer. As of right now it just needs a...
I ordered the 6822. My bike is stock so I didn't feel I need anything high performance. I hope that one day I can feel comfortable going farther than 10 miles from my house.
I have to leave town for business so I can't work on it till next week ;(
I bought it last summer probably around July.
My bike had one on it when I bought it used from the prior owner and that went bad in a similar fashion as how the bike died this weekend. You sent me another one and that also did not work out of the box as I mentioned above. The replacement...
I've ruled out a shorted wire only because I am not getting spark even using my aligator clip test scenario. The issue has to be the coil or the PAMCO but the question is why did it fail.
I can only spend another $200 and hope for the best.
How could a bad cap caused the issue if I have the 15a fuse after the cap ? Plus I am bypassing the cap in the test procedure. I know it's easy to say bad wiring, but this system has all of 5 wires and it was running like a top for two weeks. It's kinda hard to mess up the wiring.
red and...
Also if in fact the regulator did pump too much voltage frying the system, I am confused as to why my 15amp fuse didn't protect me ? This is why I think that it wasn't the regulator that caused the issue. I think it was just a simple failure on the part of the coil or the PAMCO.
I'm using...
I dont use a light I use a nice meter.
I did not test the voltage when the bike was running. It had been running fine for two weeks so I really didn't expect there would be a problem.
When I noted I was getting 12v at the coil this was when I was running the "TEST" procedure with a battery...
The PMA is new this year only two weeks old after rebuilding the bike.
It ran fine for two weeks so I would think its a voltage issue however yesterday is the first time I went full throttle. So if the added RPM crested enough voltage to kill it I guess that's an option. Wouldn't the fuse pop...
Finally got my bike running after a winter rebuild and it had been running great. Went out on a ride yesterday and it left me stranded on the side of the road with no spark.
I'm running the PAMCO and this is the 3rd unit I've had since I bought the bike. First unit left me dead on the side...
Yes I understand I need the PMA do remove the battery. I think I am more so looking to get rid of anything I don't need for the most clean look but if I have to keep the newer reg/rec out in the open it kinda defeats the purpose unless I tuck it under the gas tank. At that point I might as...
This may seem like silly questions but this is my first bike build. I recently tore down a 75 I bought this past spring to clean it up and make it "mine."
I am torn between doing the PMA swap and running no battery but at the same time to save myself the $300 in parts I might just keep the...
In trying to sort out my lack of spark last night I think I may have shorted out the coil trying to run jumper wires to bypass non essential parts.
I tested one primary to the core and get 3.2. I tested from the other primary to the core and get nothing (open)
If I tweaked another coil I...
