You don't need a title in order to get the bike registered I already have a tag and insurance on it. In Georgia (and most states) all you need is a bill of sale if there's no title as long as the vehicle is over a certain age. I can't remember what year is the cut off its either 1995 or 1985-1990
Thanks for the insight guys I really appreciate it. You have to forgive me I'm new to motorcycles this is my second bike and my first project bike. It was built from tw ground up into a bobber and I didn't buy it from the guy that built it so I dd t get any info on the specifics of the bike. One...
Ok so my bike has been down since Easter and its been a long road so far. If you've read my previous posts then you know my troubles so far but here it goes. Initially my bike broke down and seemed that there was a charging system issue I replaced the battery and found out the number 4 gear was...
Hey I Am Carbon I watched your video and it was definitely helpful seems like there's not much to changing the brushes. Did you mark the positioning of the brushes in anyway? I read somewhere that you need to mark where the brushes were so that they aren't reinstalled backwards or opposite sides...
Hey guys I'm going to work on my 1981 xs650 bobber later today when I get off work. I'm replacing the battery and the carbon brushes. The bike died on me this past Saturday and I've been raking my brain trying to figure out what could be wrong. I know the battery is shot but when I jumped the...
I've never worked on bikes before so I'm completely new to all of this. I've worked on cars before so I have some mechanical experience. Just zero motorcycle repair experience. So I am completely relying on advice from this forum and any other info I can find on the net.
When I check the brushes what am I looking for? Damage, corrosion, rust? Any other components tied in with the brushes to inspect while the cover is off?
Since I've had the bike I've never had any problems with the battery not starting the bike. Yesterday it started right up and I hit the rode once I made it to my destination I shut it off and tried to start it again maybe 3-5 minutes later and it was completely dead. If its te battery would it...
Yesterday I rode my bike to my grandmothers house for a family get together it was a nice 45-50 minute ride. Once I arrived I tried to start it again to move it maybe 3 minutes after I shut her off and nothing happened. The engine wouldn't turn the starter wouldn't engage and the lights wouldn't...
Ok so I just purchased a set of Biltwell Keystone bars for my '81 bobber and I've been searching the web for weeks trying to find a set of risers to go with them. First off its impossible to find a decent set of 7/8 risers so I scratched that idea and purchased a set of shims to run 1" risers...
I looked at a pair of dog bones, but I decided on going with straight smooth top black 3" risers. Problem is everything I find is either wrong rise wrong bar diameter, or just fugly. Lol I appreciate your reply tho. You know of anyone that's used the shims I mentioned?
