Thanks to everyone who responded to my ad, but Doncon made me an offer that I couldn't refuse -- he delivered me a nice fender in person! Here's a photo of us today, "talking XS650s" with my bike in St. Joseph, Missouri.

I think I can make any year work. Isn't the only real difference the tail light holes?

Finally got the dimmer switch working! So, for the other two guys on this planet who own TX650s: The $26 EBay DT endure switch is a fully acceptable replacement for the original TX switch. Thanks, everybody who weighed in, with your ideas and help!

After many hours of anguish and much gnashing of teeth, I gave up on getting the dimmer switch operational (for now). I never ride at night anyhow . . . But overall, I rate the "$26 EBay Aftermarket DT Switch Experiment" a success.

See my previous post -- configuration of brake linkage was way out of whack. Easy fix, thanks to input from XS 650 Forum experts!

Final Report: Took a test ride today -- problem fixed. The old 650 once again is a joy to ride.

No mark on my pedal. Or grease zerk for that matter. Good idea, though.

Well, guys, I took a look at my brake linkage configuration today, and as many of you suspected, it was WAY out of whack. The arm on the brake pedal shaft was almost horizontal. When I moved it back to vertical, I had to rotate the brake pedal several splines on the shaft to get it back in the...

All I have is a Clymer, and it doesn't have any info/photos at all on the brake pedal & linkage. Yamaha parts diagram for '73 shows the arm straight up . . .
