I love the look of an uncluttered set of bars and controls. Does anyone know of a reliable and robust 7/8 internal throttle?

I feel that someone could make some good money if they offered one...

I'm working on a design for internal controls on clip ons w/ no cables. Won't have anything for a while yet so don't hold your breath, but at least you're not the only one thinkin about it!

ya man, I'm highly considering taking this into my own hands and trying to come up with something I could sell. And something affordable, too. Many of the 1" internal throttles are like $150-$200! rediculous

I am currently running clip ons with a 1 inch internal from Nash. With a 225 price tag :yikes: nice piece. Did alot of research on ALL internals and found that you pay thru the nose for a good one once and $80 egay ones multiply times. very happy with it but poor customer service and lots of excuses! Hear exile makes a nice one too with a hefty price tag.

Actually, Russle Mitchell of Exile made the first internal throttle I believe. They aren't that difficult to make, but if the helix is not smooth, they can stick.

Harley Hummers had them in the 50's and 60's, I believe Cushmans had them and little 70's Honda mini bikes had them. Maybe one of those can be found or at least give you an idea.

I don't think Russel made the first internal throttle.
I think Harley and Indian both did in the 20's and 30's. The right had an internal throttle. The left had the internal mechanism hooked to the timing advance.
I think Russel was the first to adapt the internal throttle to actuate the clutch.

My bad. You are correct.

you meen the motocycle wasnt invented by the discovery channel? CRAP!! i just lost a bet!!!

Yup, internal controls are not new. Stock handlebars for my '46 Chief have them. And they were available (per preference) with either a right hand throttle, left hand advance/retard or vice versa. Can't imagine riding a left hand throttle...............but have seen them............Wesley
