Spent about 7 yrs south of you in Mt. Home. Loved riding up into the Sawtooths.
Perhaps not too many XS parts in the mountains.
XS650.com classifieds is a great way to source hard to find XS parts.
So much information sharing on here a guy can eventually figure out anything XS you need.

Fine looking XS project. Attractive stance, good proportion and fitment. I like that it is NOT a hardtail regardless of what the suspension travel actually may be. Keep in touch.

Aint that the truth. I been riding west since the 70's. Every little town has grown beyond recognition. Once they get a MacDonalds/Walmart its all down hill.
