Question for the experts - Would the attached Magura Master cylinder (10mm) & slave cylinder (27mm) work on the XS650, assuming that a suitable adaptor for it to bolt on to the clutch cover is fabricated? Thanks very much.

This thread by @DogBunny should help answer your questions.

It's not done a whole bunch, cuz you can make the cable clutch work QUITE well with less effort and expense. That does a take an understanding of operation, of all the parts that need attention, possibly fettling and putting in quality replacement parts where needed.
Our resident aerospace engineer @TwoManyXS1Bs really dug into all aspects of clutch operation. Much of his work can be found here;

and here: https://www.xs650.com/threads/xs650-clutch-worm-actuator-experiment-tidbits.31554/
I highly suggest you at least read through his work it gives the answer on how far the push rod has to move for full clutch action and downfalls of excessive movement.

Would love to follow your install. I have a nice collection of parts for a hydraulic conversion just haven't found my round tuit.
Many got turned off on hydaulic when a vendor offered a system that wasn't up to task and had to be removed from the market. I have one of those set ups in the parts bins too. :laugh:

I’ve always been interested in a hydraulic clutch set up. My interest was to improve plate separation so the elusive neutral could be easliy found. I’ve done as much as I can with replacement of “stockish” components to maximize clutch operation, but my bike, with rear sets just makes finding neutral a little more challenging.
I like the compact look of the slave cylinder you have. Try measuring piston travel and that should tell you if you’re in the ball park of making it work.

Hi bud...
It should work as it's very similar to the mod I did to my own bike.I too used a Magura slave except I went for a Braketec lever assembly which is also a 10 fitting....

Mounting the slave needs to be carefully done to centre the body and an idea on how to mount it.I opted to build up some weld behind the cover and bolt the slave on,then its just a matter of fabricating a rod of correct length between it and the clutch .
