ARE CLASSIC BIKES TO BE BANNED IN EUROPE?

Slippery slope is when things fall off, incrementalism is when things are piled on. Don't get them confused.
No confusion....

Redistribution of wealth.... russian interference/destabilization. Yeah? Studied a lot of that in the Air Force Senior NCO Academy. Very distant, but I recall the jist of it all.
We have different ideas about government. You believe in the deep state and (most) government is evil.
Me? For 25 yrs I was part of the government. I have a healthy skepticism that helps me weed out the the actual bad from the imagined evils. It works for me.
We've gotten way too far into politics than's good for this place. I'll politely bow out now.
Cheers.

I'd still pull ya out of a ditch regardless of whatever bumper stickers your sporting.

The powers that be can insist on developed countries adhering to absolutely ridiculous environmental standards all while outsourcing their means of production to developing countries with little to no environmental standards all in the name of profit and progress and it's not for control? Why does it seem that all these crazy ideas are being forced upon western civilization and countries and no where else, I'm starting to see a pattern here, anyone else.
"They" are worried about my 79 xs650 emissions but not those of a factory building tanks and drones to go overthrow foreign governments? These same people that don't want you to have 65 triumph TR6 because of all the pollution it creates fly to environmental summits across the globe on private jets then are escorted to their meetings in a caravan of 6 SUVs that get about 15 miles to the gallon but I'm crazy because I believe they make these demands for power and control with environment as their excuse. Something is seriously seriously wrong here and I don't think it's me.

I think Jim makes a very good point here, the only thing that continues to puzzle me is why almost every country ,the proverbial, "We" have a problem or conflict with is a country that isn't involved with central banks? As far as "being part" of the government, turning wrenches in a hangar somewhere is not quite the same thing as attending meetings with the Bilderberg group. There are 2 million federal employees, 10 million federal government contractors, this does not include local or state employees. There are alot of people that are "part" of the government that's one of the main problems we are experiencing today government u fortunately is in the business of governing and as the saying goes when the only tool you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail.

As well there definitely is a "deep state " although it can go by many names, has many faces and wears many hats, it is made up of unelected officials that are appointed to positions of extreme power and influence that dictate the majority of policies that affect your day to day life. The government oversteps it's boundaries all the time, simply believing you can dictate how another human being is supposed to live their life is prime example, I certainly don't believe in lawlessness but when almost every politician is a lawyer you can bet all they are primarily going to do is create more laws. You shouldn't need a law degree just to understand that mechanics of how a society operates and you definitely should not feel the stress that most experience when a police officer pulls out behind you, when either or both of these things occur it's a tell tail sign that things are moving in the wrong direction.

I'm going to remove my tinfoil cap for a moment and just comment on the thread topic instead of geo-political relations. I can understand why they would want to get clapped out cars off the road in favor of newer ones (even if not electric) because of emissions as well as potential leaks blah blah blah. My problem is that I think their needs to be a defined cut off, because let's face it, classic motorcycles and vehicles are not the majority of individuals main means of transport. Also, what repairs can and will be allowed without falling into this "dispose of category". I think the majority of people it won't effect because if my car needs a new motor or extensive motor work I'm just going to say screw it and get a new car. That said I don't speak for everybody. There just needs to be way more refined cut off lines and exceptions for what classifies as classic. Maybe insurance will classify that? Either way I don't live in the UK so i don't have a part in this fight yet. The US already makes me so shady shit I'd rather not do anymore. I'm too pretty for prison

My friend I couldn't agree more, but we must never forget these people are playing chess not checkers, as stupid as they may seem they are extremely calculated, gaining ground and slowly incrementally implementing their plan, "they" play a long game, it's often generational, more a marathon than a sprint. Their aim is not to poke the rattlesnake while it's sleeping but rather to remove it's head while it is.
The pattern often seen is first some extreme proposal.. (check!)
The, next, "compromise"...
Which consists of taxing the thing..richphucks pay the tax and keep the bike they got from you because you were poor.

Meantime a new and improved VW, better that gas, better than electro...

Yeah, it's only "suggestive", but we've all seen how bureaucracy can run amok with the over indulgences from our own such created by the Executive Branch that enacts regulations without approval of Congress.
A prime example I seem to remember when Carter created the EPA, which I thought was only to be a "suggestive" agency which at a whim now regulates everything under the sun and you have to take them to court to get the decision that what they've done is unconstitutional. And they're not the only one.
We need to wary and watchful of the un-elected Bureaucratic state which has way too much unrestricted power without oversite.
And I'll leave this there.

Well I put a stick in a hornets nest with this one. Lots of great posts and opinion content from all, and it goes to show how much we care for our love of old, and not so old, two wheeled wonders. I say we may have the power to prevent a shit storm of controlling governance if we collectively push back if or when the time comes. After all we are the people who put the governments in place.

Are they doing this India,Africa,Asia, the Middle East, or is this only planned for certain types of countries? I know what constitutes a classic to me any vehicle that an individual loves and deems worth of spending time and money on, but hey I'm a real liberal, not progressive. I do believe on the list of repairs that could deem a vehicle over 15 years old not road worthy brakes was an item on the list, what's next oil changes, windshield washer fluid, or maybe once it runs out of fuel. I'll continue riding
