Hey blues, Thanks for your thoughts. When it starts to act up I remove the coil to clean it and make sure it's really jammed in there when I put it back. The wire is brand new from a local bike shop.

Using coils from xs650direct and one of them builds up w/ carbon on the little pin that the hight tension lead stabs onto after running for a while causing it to run very poorly if at all till I scrub off the buildup.

I have a 1976 xs650 with an rd400 rear end.
I understand it is possible to make a spacer to compensate for the sprocket offset.
Curious if anyone has an actual photo of this spacer in action?
