I'm not familiar with Omar's recommendations, but these have been well-regarded on this board. The one's from Mike's, sold under the "XS Performance" brand, are usually considered lower-quality than the K&N's. Also, the listing is for both filters, not just one.

From personal experience, also make sure your points are properly set. I was trying to chase down carb demons for a couple months before I realized my points weren't gapped.

Man. That's lame. I only hope I can be that righteous when I'm in my 60's.

I haven't dug into it yet, but I agree on repairing it and think I'm going to go this route and try to get my original engine back up to speed over the winter. Thanks!

So I just blew up the engine on my 79 standard. I'm looking for donor candidates, and was wondering what the most compatible years are. Or, which years would NOT work or make my life harder. Thanks so much for any help!
