    Replacing right hand controls.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement throttle that includes the perch for the decompression lever? I am moving the kill switch to the other side or maybe hidden under the triple tree area, and don't need a starter button, but wanted to keep the decompression lever for easier...

    Zaps you while kickstarting.

Does what it says on the tin. When I grab the decompression lever and kick it, I get something a little extra: a tingle up the arm as I get mildly shocked. Bad ground? Leakage from the kill switch? Arcing from the plug wires?

    Desperate, not delirious...

As a temp fix, until I get my kit from MikeXS, I am using a rubber freeze plug to block the start hole... Rubber should be oil/gas/heat resistant, since that would likely be the conditions that it would come in contact with if used as a freeze plug. (would use the right freeze plug, but...

    Wanted - 1972 XS650 Tank, or equivalent.

So, I got this bike from a friend that did not want to sell but was forced to, as it was his Uncle's bike, original owner. He simply has no room to store it and he trusted me to not just part it out, but get it back on the road. Problem is, the gas tank has been custom painted, and I am not...

    Starter motor, part 2.

So I got the starter out. Applying power to it manually and it does not spin. Trying to get it to turn with pliers did not work either. So.... looks frozen. Take apart and fix? Or just buy a used one? May just do a delete, but trying to get a bike running again when I have to kick it...

    Replacement plastic carb parts.

On 72, the BS38 carbs have a plastic nipple at the bottom of the carb, right where the gas feeds in. Cracked from age, of course. Is there a replacement for these? maybe a brass nipple that would fit in and just make a straight across connection and not the "loop" it had before? Is the...

    Starter problems.

72 XS650 Two questions: Starter is engaged by pulling back on the Decompression lever, correct? Assuming the above is true... When I pull back on the decompression lever I hear the starter "clunk" into place, but the starter does not turn. Engine turns over as expected with the...

    Possible new XS650 owner...

So a buddy of mine is leaving for Texas, and needs to cut down on the crap. Unbelievably. he is giving me first dibs on his 72 XS650 because he knows I am a vintage Japanese nut. But I am a Honda CB550 guy, specifically a 75. I kept my CB550 as a mostly original, upgrading a few things so it...
