    Battery charging system

Hi folks, I'm doing my second xs650 build and have a question about the charging system/battery. I have a Shorai battery, 12v, 14Ah, 210 CCA, 14A max charge rate. Question is, can I run a 200w charging system? I'm looking at one from Hughs Hand Built. Thanks, Pat

    Voo Doo Relic girder

Has anyone put a Voo Doo Vintage Relic girder on their XS? I'm thinking about it and wanted to use the XS front axle and brake assembly. I have ok fabricating skills and wondered who out there has done (or attempted) this. Just don't want to get in over my head. Thanks.

    lab metal

JB Weld will off gas and shrink (a bit) in the oven - what has worked for me is this. After it is applied and it has dried for 24 hours I put it in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes - let it do what it wants to do. Then I file, sand and apply powder coating.

    Mixing screws

I compared them but just by eyeballing them. They looked to be exact but apparently something was off. I'll take a closer look at the distance of the steps and post later.

    Mixing screws

Thanks everyone. An update. After installing my new mixing screws, springs washer and O ring I could not get the bike to run properly. To the eye the mixing new screws look to be identical as the old ones. As 5twins suggested I took them out to triple check that I didn't stack a new washer and O...

    Mixing screws

They are definitely 34's and Mike's new needles look to be exactly as the stepped originals. Since I found no O rings when I removed the original screws I'm wondering if Angus's suggestion of possibly crud (disintegrated original O rings?) might have lodged itself down in the orifice. I've...

    Mixing screws

Hi Everyone, So, I've got my 83 650 (with 34's) running pretty good, I'd say I'm about 95% happy with how's she's running but there is this last little 5% or so that's been keeping me busy tweaking it here and there. Lurking around this site I've seen how important it is to have those little O...

    No spark?

Okay tested the green wire on the coil side (turning by hand) and it shows a constant 11.5 volts.

    No spark?

Pete after a bit more research on this forum this is what I (dont) have. While rotating by hand and testing the green wire at the pamco - it is not alternating current from magnet to magnet. It's 2.3 volts to zero volts then back to 2.3 and so on. Anybody?

    No spark?

Pete here is what I got. 10.80v at Pamco red wire. 2.93v at the Pamco green wire.

    No spark?

Heres the scoop. 500 or so miles on a new bobber build with just the basics for wiring. Hughs PMA, Pamco, E advancer, all new wiring done meticulously. Have about 500 flawless miles on it. Today it sputtered for a few seconds and then died completely. I did manage to re-start it but only to a...

    Girder forks

I've been tossing the idea of putting some girder forks on my bobber. There are some out there for the Harleys but I haven't seen any made specifically for the XS, and modifying any are beyond my skills. Anyone out there know of a quality bolt on pair for the XS? Any fabricators out there?
