Make Offer - 3 seats and a tank

Make offers and pay for shipping. The standard seat was from a '75 or '76. I bought it for a '77 but it didn't fit up to the tank just right. It is in great shape. The other 2 seats came on my 2 '77's when I bought them. I've since replaced them with seats off '77's. These are also in good...

    Center Stand Removal

Yes, I broke a foot off my center stand on a '77. It was very rusted and I will hope to find a replacement '77 stand for it. I can not remove the bolts that hold it on. It is rusty but I have spray with penetrating oil and have used a breaker bar. It does not budge. Is there something I...

    Rim Savers?

Will someone please explain 'Milk Carton Rim Savers' before I mar up my rims any more. Are today's milk cartons to thin for this or how do you really make them?

    No Spark, Then Spark

I have been struggling with a timing issue. Finally bought a timing light. Long story short. It's a '77 and if I hold the plug cap slightly off the post it will fire. I changed wires with no change. What could it be? Is that a bad plug? I will pick new ones up after work today. Posted via Mobile

Carbs not in sync when throttle is applied

Made my $5 manometer. After a little effort I was able to get them pretty close at idle. My question is... When applying throttle right side goes up. I do not think this is correct. Do I have a air leak? Where should I be checking?

Twisted Sister maybe, twisted bolt for sure.

I am changing the shocks on my '77 and I twisted the upper shock mount bolt off. Not sure how to proceed next. Do I need to drill this out and replace with a regular bolt? Suggestion please.

Took my bike for a walk tonight

Changed the oil and cleaned the filter on my newest '77. Ran it to check for leaks. No leaks and runs fairly well. So I thought I would take it for a ride. Made it 3 blocks and it died. Electrical problem, yes. Walked it home and checked the battery, seems good. With a little research I...

    Removing Fork Caps

I'm trying to remove the fork caps from my '77xs650. I made this: picture attached. 10mm bolt(17mm head), nut and lock nut. It worked great on the first one, but I twisted the bolt on the second one. I sprayed WD40 on the cap, made another bolt and nut combination and leaned on it hard. I...

    My xs650

Great site and a I'm a new member. It snowed last night. Give me a break. Here is a picture of my '77xs650. I just picked this up the other day It has 6,249 miles on it. Seems to run strong but needs some carb work, as it drops fuel from the overflow when I shut it down. Also needs front...
