Wednesday, still cant get above idle but did a compression test,,,,little bit above 150 psi one side little below other side, less than 10 psi difference. Guess I was right, she blew smoke when I got her and I was sure it was only valve stem oil seals. Actually it was a warped head AND seals...

Finally she runs, bit sick, wont rev but she idles!!!! And the muffler is not too loud, cant wait to sort out the engine do broakes and tires and get to take her for a test ride around the block dont know how to insert a video but here is the Bikepics reference for her today...

Head is back from shop after shave, valve grind and new oil seals, engine back together and installed. But have to wait for a new external oil pipe before I can see how see starts.

Ok, Im putting the engine back together and come to the advance unit. The manual says engage the weight arms into the disk slots, they are colour coded. BUT mine are not coloured!!!! How do I know the right slot without colours?????? Its a 1975 bike

How bad (or good) is the stock air cleaner/filter setup???? Does anyone have some hard facts on a dyno sheet that just shows the difference between a stocker and one that has just fitted pod filters and rejetted???

Whipped the head off to do the valves,,,found that the small diameter bolts by the spark plugs are missing,,,question is can I use standard high tensile bolts to replace them or are the bolts some funny stuff?

My 1975 has "brake" and "stop light" warning lights. This annoys me for two reasons,,,they are there and they insult my intelligence, I know when the brakes need work and I check my lights each time I ride. I will just remove them and all the associated wiring BUT before I do , wil it bugger...

Painted the tank and side covers. Looks good if you dont get too close, I'll give it a week to dry thoroughly then some 1200 wet and dry to get the fuggly bits out

Can I just take the rocker cover off and replace it without having to go the whole way and replace the head gasket

paint is faded and tank has small dent so needs work and repaint. I have some chameleon purple pearl sitting around and want to use it up, hence the colour scheme.
