    PMA, Pamco, Kickstart only

OK so I converted to a PMA system with a reg/rect from Hughs, (I do not recall what stator I have, but the rotor is off a banshee.) However I couldn't get spark without a battery charger hooked up (didn't have a battery on hand) Can someone tell me if somethings wrong with my setup?

    Stator Questions

Hi I need some input from the electrical gurus: I did the PM swap and I'm running points but recently lost fire. Can someone tell me what the stator should produce when I kick it over and how do I measure/test it? ie which setting on a test meter?

No spark, ran a bit but not good

So I'm close to the end of a long project and now no fire. I have a 79 xs650 with a vr500 stator, Hughs plate and reg/rec. I installed the PM system and used a weak old MC battery to test, waalaa, nice blue spark, even fired it on a shot of gas through the carbs, it sounded smooth and nice. I...

How-To: Permanent Magnet Alternator Swap (Also known as the Banshee Swap)

Questions on PM conversion: Does the reg/rect need to be mounted to the frame for a ground or isolated from the frame? My stator only has 3 yellow wires, do I need to ground it somehow back to the reg/rect and then to the battery or capacitor or frame? Do I need a heavy guage wire from the...

    Cleaning the head gasket surface

If this schematic is correct, you just need a rubber mallet to tap the cylinders loose and pull them off. Once you have them off you can clean them on the bench without the long bolts in the way or take them to a good machine shop for a good soaking and have them honed if you plan to install...
