Make Offer - 1971 xs650 Part out...saved from the scrap!!!

Have you used PB blaster or some other rust buster on them yet? Since the pistons are high in the bore yet you can leave the cylinder down and beat the pistons down the bore for a way before you need to worry about blocking up the cylinders. Cutting a chunk of 2x4 so it bears on the edges of the piston not the crown is helpful. Have they moved at all yet?

Gary I could kill you for making me work hard. 2hrs. I cut multiple pieces of wood, Had pb blaster soaking for 2 days. still nothing. Heated the outside fins with 2 mapp torches, still nothing after striking it multiple time. (i almost brought out the acetylene) Finally resorted to a air chisel with a metal block i welded on. Check the pictures. Finally had some movement and just kept going with the air chisel...had to block up going up too. (crank finally broke loose when the jugs were lifted)

Great news the bores look good. a light honing should do.

I took some pictures of the piston. the left on looks like it had the most rust on it.
Let me know if you want the pistons too. Tops are a little mard now. (i would still run them if I had to. (your choice.)

Yeah it can be a bitch for sure! PM me with your paypal and I'll send the money or I can ship you a rear wheel with an H rim, your choice.
I had a stuck old husky 400 one time, took me a week to get the piston out had to use blocks and threaded rod tighten til I thought it would break, repeat the next day.

here's the kicker....rusty both sides.
10 bucks plus shipping 7.13 to florida.

You wouldn't believe this but I threw the hoses out this weekend after stripping the bike down to its frame. The hoses were of course hard as a rock. but i do believe i saved the spring clips.
last bike i did i used black irrigation tubing that would soften up with a little heat but would stay in form once cooled.

Let me know if you need the springs.

I still can't believe someone would need those. I do apologize. Joe

no! don't apologize. I just saw them on the rehab lawrgj is doing and I think they look cool. I have reasonable pipes, but I'd like to add them for show. What do you want for them? Shipping is to 97213.

Finally had a chance to see what you were talking about. those are for the 75-80 models when they got hooked into air filter boxes.
I have a set of hoses and springs off a 78 if you're interested. I will post pictures tonight if you like.
Joe
