I think that's a 71 front wheel. I could be wrong. But my 72 has a disc.

How about a pic of the other side.
 
That's not an XS1/XS1B front wheel, missing the airscoop. Need to see if other side has the 6 vent holes. There's a recent post here *somewhere* with a very similar wheel, reported as coming off a ?-400 or ?-500 ???

Those front fork lowers DO look to be early XS1 (Non-enduro type, no fender stay ears), however, they have the XS1B fork sealcovers???
 
twomanyxs1bs/ there are no vent holes or scoop on the wheel/ do you think the rear wheel and forks are 650s/ these were on the bike when I got it/ It had a 447 motor in it and a sportster tank and definitely had been worked on over the years
 
will the 79's fork assembly i.e triple trees and what not work with a 72 frame? may be interested if so..
 
stem length is different on the pre 74 frames it is fairly simple to swap stems though
