1977 XS650D Cam Chain Adjuster

For this engine variant...Is a 27mm cam chain adjuster lock nut used in conjunction with the long adjuster screw (w/10mm hex) and 24mm Crown Nut? There's no reference to a 27mm lock nut in any parts microfiche's.

No, the type D adjuster assembly used from '76 on up through some of the '79 models (Standards, Specials got the type E w/ lock nut) did not have a lock nut .....

However, you can add one if you like but must also use the longer type E plunger along with it (about 8mm longer).
