Hello again, I recently replaced the foam on my air filters after i saw they were dried and broken up. I used the green UNI foam and wrapped the filter cages. But also i noticed the Advancer springs completely shredded. I replaced the springs. And lastly the right side carb fuel line metal got detached from the carb so i glued it back in.
But now when the motorcycle is on it backfires at times and it just drives sluggishly, when i give it gas and let off the gas the RPM's seem to almost stick or stay high longer than usual and randomly backfires.

Also see link to video below, I dont recall the hissing sound (predominantly on left side) before the advancer spring and filter replacement. When i remove the air filters completely it sounds exactly the same so i dont think its the replaced air filters causing the issue.

Could it be that i need to now adjust the Points since the springs broke?
Any other recommendations and things i should check? (it was running great before this)

This weekend i will probably check to make sure all the Carb hoses are properly installed as the right one had to be removed to glue the fuel line bushing

Here are some additional photos of the spring issue that i replaced, the carb fuel line bushing that i glued.

Any help and suggestions are appreciated, motorcycle riding season is getting very limited now here in Chicago as the temps will start getting lower so i want this baby up and running as soon as possible to enjoy a few more weeks of good riding weather.

What springs did you use? Many of the aftermarket ones don't have quite the right tension. This can cause issues with the advance, as in it doesn't advance properly. You can't get original springs from Yamaha anymore but they do pop up on eBay from time to time. I'd watch for a set.
