1981- 83 SE carb diaphragm 29mm

does anyone know if the above diaphragm and slide are interchangeable with a 1980 BS34 carb

It should be. The major differences between the 1980 BS34s and the later ones are down in the float and float bowl area. Now, we're talking 650 BS34s here. Slide/diaphragm assemblies from BS34s used on other models, or other bike brands (Suzuki), may differ. From what I've observed, some have the location tab on the edge of the diaphragm in a different spot, and some even have two tabs.
