Hi Fellas,

I'm looking to swap motors from a 72 to an 82. I'd like to retain my BS-38s carbs though. Are the carb holder holes on later models the same distance apart? I.E. can I swap over my BS-38 carbs and holders onto a 82 engine?

Are there any other issues with putting an 82 engine into a 72 frame?

Asking in advance of buying the 82 engine.

Thank you,

Caleb

Your '72 carbs and holders will swap right over. But if the '82 engine comes with carbs, you'd probably be better off using them. They're a better carb.

You'll need to swap a few things between the motors. The charging systems and ignitions differ. You'll need to swap the '72 alternator and points set-up onto the newer engine. The '82 cam won't have bushings installed for the advance rod so you'll have to add them.
