Here is my first build started about 2 weeks ago. After a long battle with DMV(they are calling it a 1977 but it is marked 8/77 if I am not mistaken that makes it a 1978) Trying to figure out the controls right now. But having fun doing it that's what it's all about right. Thinking about not running the top engine mounts. Does anyone have advise on this???

problem with not running the top engine mount, if you have points, is the condensor is attached to it. i tried runnning the bike with the top engine mount off (for re-torqueing) with the condensor jammed somewhere, but it kept rattling around breaking ground - makes for some erratic timing. obviously wouldn't be that hard to fabricate another spot to put it, but i gotta think yamaha put that mount there for a reason

Yes, you need the top motor mount. Without it, the engine will shake around too much and eventually start breaking all the lower mounts.

As long as the frame vin matches the title don't worry about what year they say it is.
