Will a 1977 Alternator rotor and stator coil work on a 1981?

Neither will work if you're using the stock '81 ignition.

The stock 81 ignition is controlled by the TCI box and triggered by the pickup and the magnets on the rotor. The 77 is a points ignition and does not have the electronic ignition parts to fire the ignition. This is what it looks like on your 81.
