I’m in the process of putting my 650 back together, I inherited it from my grandpa when he passed. While trying to assemble the clutch, I’m using my Haynes manual. I do not have part number 15, only the other 3 pieces pictured. Does anyone know where I can get that’s #15 or would I be better off getting he single piece pushrod off of mikeXS?

@Mailman posted this some time ago.

Also, I recommend shopping eBay for a N.O.S. original long rod. They pop up all the time and can be had for about the same price as the re-pop, often less (I just scored a couple for $10 each). There can be quality issues with the re-pops. Apparently the one I got didn't get hardened. It was wearing badly, to the point of being ready to shed metal bits, lol. I'll never buy another .....

I have never had the inclination to replace the 3 piece pushrod. It works fine for me.

I think a bit of the "anti two piece" is how much the rod wiggles WHEN THE COVER/WORM GEAR are not in place. Far as i can tell; the worm helps keep the short section centered in the seal.

I know I changed from the original two piece rod set up, to a single rod on both of my bikes. The first time I located used one piece rods from EBay. Later I installed alloy aluminum one piece rods fabricated by @GLJ. That design was an improvement because being made of aluminum, they expanded at the same rate as the aluminum case and had much less tendency for the clutch throw to change when the motor gets hot.

Thank you for this. Going to go ahead and order one.
Hmm....so I also ordered one of these off Ebay, before they disappear (not usually need replaced unless lost...but ya never know).

Anyway, I got one (different listing) but it came from the same seller. So, if I somehow snookered you out - I'll send it to ya - just PM me.:sneaky:
