'81 engine into a '76 frame??

Guys,

Been doing some forum searches and did not see an answer to this. Sorry in advance if I missed it.

I have a 1981 xs650 running parts bike and want to install the engine and electrics into a 1976 xs650 roller frame. Any issues you can think of??

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Go for it. You may have to fab a mount for the coil and also find a place to mount the finned thingie.......rectifier? The black box may mount under the battery tray like on the '81 or you can swap battery trays.....I wired up my '77 with the electrics of an '80 and those are a couple of things I had to deal with.
On the finned thingie.......I fabbed a mount to go to one of the lower rear engine mounts......I may have a pic somewheres .
