I have a problem with the advance unit sticking in the advance position. It has been lubricated and today, I installed new springs, to no avail. Unless this can be resolved, I am going to install a Boyer ignition, rather than the Pamco which utilizes the advance unit. Anyone have an idea on how to resolve the sticking?

Raceman, the pivots or the holes in the weights may be worn out of round. A new advance unit is relatively inexpensive at Mike's and will effectively eliminate any advance-related issues you may have. That was my fix and I have never regretted it.

Also, have you serviced the rod that runs through the cam? If it's dry, that can contribute to sticking. I think there is a section in Tech on how to do that.

If you decide to go with the Boyer, drop me a line as I might have a lightly used one (2200 miles) to sell. Works great but I'm probably going to end up rephasing the motor it's on.
