Bent and cut up a piece of pipe to fill the gap a little where the gusset was. I think it fits but I will wait a day or so to make sure I like it.

New rubber. Waiting on fender from 7 sins. When I start the tear down, I will drill and paint the rims. Until then I'm riding!

I'm still working on this build guys and progressing pretty good for me but I wanted to show some pictures of the old tank that was on the bike when I purchased it. I had to buy another tank cause I couldn't bring myself to paint over this old thing. I bet at one time this tank was the coolest thing on the road. Now, probably not so much but it looks like it has some stories to tell. I tried looking up the J.K. name on the signature but it's pretty vague. Is there any chance anybody here has seen this or other work resembling the same signature markings? I thought maybe if the painter was still alive, maybe he would like to hear that it's appreciated and sitting on the shelf in my work shop.

Your progress is lookin' good.
I imagine that the old tank, which is now a superb piece of Garage Art (good for you for preserving it), might have been painted about 1980 when Bob Seger's LP was hot:

If you ever decide to clear off some space on your shelves, and are willing to part with the old tank, I'll buy it off ya. I'll make a space on one of my shelves.

Got the rims all done, powder coated and put back together. Lost a grease seal so ordering it slowed me down a little. Got around a 20 minute shakedown ride down today. Man it felt good. Haven't started it for 6 months and still it was a one kick bike.
